Patrick Ness
Patrick Ness’s Carnegie Medal–winning masterwork is poised to attract a discerning crossover audience. The monster in Conor’s backyard is not the one he’s been expecting — the one from the nightmare he’s had every night since his mother started her treatments. This monster is ancient. And wild. And it wants something from Conor. Something terrible and dangerous. It wants the truth. From the final idea of award-winning author Siobhan Dowd — whose premature death from cancer prevented her from writing it herself — Patrick Ness has spun a haunting and darkly funny novel of mischief, loss, and monsters both real and imagined.

"It was a good read"

"What can I say about this book it made me feel scared, thoughtful, triumphant, and heartbreak. I enjoyed it most definitely so much so I read it 2 times in the same month. It brings you in and keeps you there while you try to figure out why the Monster came walking. This story is touching and fierce and makes you want to wreck havoc on the world lol. I loved it very much.

Updated: Reread this book again it's almost October just that time of year for this book. Iv never had a character that while reading there lines the very words ring in my bones if that makes since at all. The monster words are so well written even when in short phrases shoot thru your very being. I just love this tale. I feel like we all have a monster inside of us begging to get out and set the world in order. The audiobook is amazing as well but the original has some beautiful illustrations. I just had to get both."
