In this book we follow Karina who is very passionate about English. Because of this her English teacher asks her to tutor the schools “bad boy” Ace. At first Karina isn’t thrilled about it but after the two start fake dating one another, the two start to grow closer to one another.
This was okay. I did like it but I don’t think it’s a book I’ll think about often after this.
I really liked Karina as a character. She was very relatable so I really liked her. Karina has anxiety and is still at a point in time where she is figuring out how to cope with it and it was written well.
However this book I just found okay. I enjoyed it but maybe it’s just that I’ve read so many YA contemporary’s that they can all follow the same formula at some point. I definitely would recommend this book because it’s fun, fluffy and cute, but I just thought it was fine.
It also felt like we were building to Karina telling her parents about her relationship with Ace in the end but that conversation never happened which was kind of disappointing.
I definitely recommend this to fans of to all the boys I’ve loved before and the upside of falling so if you liked those, I’d check this book out. Or if you liked this book and haven’t read those then I’d recommend checking those ones out. I’m excited to read more from Tashie Bhuiyan in the future."
"If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would. It was AMAZING. So raw and emotional and Karina’s character development was phenomenal. Being a south Asian teen myself, I was able to relate to a lot of the struggles she goes through. It really sheds light on how different cultures and families play a role in teenagers’ lives. HIGHLY recommend it to anyone. Also, ACE AND KARINA FOREVER 💗💗💗"
"I cried at the end. I don't know if I should've cried but no matter what I've been very emotionally stable today and this book made me cry sooo... five stars? Maybe 4.5 more like it because I didn't mesh particularly well with the love interest for like a whole chunk of the book and also I'm rating this extremely based on emotions.

Also I think it's time to admit I don't get poetry? Never have. Did AP English lit, read constantly, have poet friends, and still can't tell someone's first poem from an award-winning one. It is really embarrassing to admit as someone who considers myself a creative that I need more clearly defined rules than poetry appears to have, but oddly this book combined with other things I'm encountering during the time I'm reading this are making me want to try to get it. So side note there."
