"Oh this book is absolutely fantastic...but long 😬...however; the author creates all the characters and surroundings with precision and details which make this book even more interesting and enjoyable. As you may recognize, im not a fan of long books but that one was pure joy and pleasure to swallow in 4 days..."
"when i say this is one of my favorite books in all of existence, im not kidding. i love the way mira grant writes from different perspectives (including dolphins at one point!) the science, the characters, the tidbits of personal context every character gets is genuinely delightful and contributes so much to the world grant crafts in this book. it has gore, suspense, killer mermaids, science fiction, some romance, plus lots of wonderful representation for deaf, queer, and autistic characters (they’re all spectacularly written) i read this 3 times a year minimum. "This was such a great read, it had me hooked right from the beginning. I found out after reading this that there is actually a prequel to this book “Rolling in the Deep”. That being said, it does excellent as a stand alone as well.
Seven years ago, The Imagine Entertainment Network sent a ship named the Atargatis on its way to the Mariana Trench to film a mocumentary about legendary mermaids, and whether they were real or just part of our mythology. The Atargatis was found without its crew and the film they were able to salvage had some very disturbing footage on it, showing they had indeed found something.
Imagine Entertainment is now sending a second ship, this time outfitted with many researchers and scientists. They have taken precautions to have a large security team as well as some Hunters to be better prepared. Victoria Stewart has managed to get invited on this journey; she has a more personal stake in it all. Her sister Anne was on the Atargatis and was never heard from again. She is hoping to find out what happened to her.
This was one of those wonderful gems that I just happened to stumble across from the library. I would definitely recommend it."
