"I did enjoy this book. I think this was just an issue with me reading too many classic books in a row. I will definitely come back to this book one day as the story was good and was very peaceful. I did enjoy it, I just needed more suspense and action at the time when I was reading this book."
"A lesser sequel to the lively _8 Cousins_. Alcott can't resist using the Campbells to voice her own religious and moral views: Rose spends 2 years in Paris without succumbing to the temptations of a fashionable dress, uplifting the undeserving poor is a necessary but fatiguing occupation, and bigoted great-aunts must be appeased for the sake of "family harmony" at the expense of personal happiness. Nor do we escape that Alcott staple: a tragic early death provides timely lessons about the True Meaning of Life. Still despite the glurge factor, there is plenty of humor and romance, and fans of Rose and Phoebe will be happy with the denouement."
