"I really liked this at first. As the book continued I found the antagonists to be pretty thin, and the early momentum of the book to fizzle out as the romance needed to happen. That being said I still enjoyed the book as whole. But I am still laughing at Christo not knowing how gold works and banking a admittedly small scene on readers also not knowing. "There was a spot of blood on her tongue...from the shards of gold inside the bottle""
"3.75 star. The story was a little more sinister than I thought it would be which I liked. I was suprised the siren Lira was so feral and animal like. Finally something new. I quite enjoyed her character fierce and sharp.<br/><br/>"You should assume," she says, "that everything I say to you is an insult. One day the world is going to run out of luck to give to you." -Lira<br/><br/>Maybe I'm the only one but especially with seafaring books I expect a map. Really any book because I can't help myself. It gives you a since of direction and distance. Also when you have more than one kingdom its easier to memorize.<br/><br/>The comradery of the crew was very pleasant like family. Of course Lira and Elian's bickering was great. Most of the time hate/love relationship banter is eye rolling annoying but Alexandera did very well in her writing. Instead of exasperated sighs I was giggling every few mins.<br/><br/>I think this book would have been a four to five star if their sea travels were more detailed. Also the ending came together quite easly and quick. The big fighting scene was a little all over the place. But this story was different from what I expected, that's always a bonus. I also enjoyed the myths and the detailed creatures. Again it was just great to see a new spitfire character biting and clawing her way thru the story."
"This book is a dark, somewhat macabre twist on the little mermaid. What I enjoyed about this book though, was in the enemies to lovers dynamic it’s usually the man that has this dark ominous side. In this story I loved that it was the female for a change that is the monster. The siren/pirate vibes are awesome and if that’s your thing, you will love this book! I thought the ending was a little cheesy romance wise. But other than that it’s a good quick read! #enemiestolovers #fantasy #pirates #advent #sirens "
"This book had some great enemies to lovers side! The female lead was the “enemy” for a change, which was great. In my opinion this book is pretty dark and has some twists. The plot is wonderful even though I feel like there aren’t much detail… And at first I didn’t like neither of the main leads, but eventually they really grew on me! "
