"I think its funny that this is being called a rip-off of Harry Potter. The only similarities are that it's about a special kid in a magic school. I guess he has 2 good friends too, but other than that, I'd say it's pretty different. The MCs circumstances are also way different. It's pretty unique. I enjoyed it quite a bit. I may be a tad biased though. I adore Holly Black, and Cassandra Clare is among my other favorites too. Magnus Bane is probably my favorite fictional magician. Anyway, I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I wish the kid had come clean at the end there, but I see why he didn't. He's a kid, and he's afraid. 3.5/5☆"

"Harry Potter with slight differences. At least the main character is disabled, so a bit of representation at least."

"I am not the target audience for this book, but none the less it was such a fun read. I really ought to read more middle grade. I enjoyed this book so much, upon finishing, I immediately rented the next one from the library."
