NATIONAL BESTSELLER“A vertigo-inducing page-turner by an author who brings the high-stakes world of expert mountain-climbing to life on the page.” —Nita Prose, #1 New York Times bestselling author of The MaidA young woman's once-in-lifetime adventure in the world of extreme-altitude mountaineering takes a chilling turn when a series of deaths can no longer be written off as accidents. When journalist and novice climber Cecily Wong is asked to summit Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest peak in the world, it's a career-making opportunity. She's been personally invited by Charles McVeigh, one of the most acclaimed mountaineers in the world, who wants her to report on the final leg of his record-breaking series of summits. But there's one caveat: he won't give her the interview until she's scaled the mountain as part of his climbing party. Cecily is by far the least experienced of the group, but she is intent on proving herself and will stop at nothing to reach the summit. But when strange things start to happen around her, she becomes concerned. And then people start to die. Stranded on the mountain with a team she barely knows, she must battle more than the elements in an epic fight for survival—against one of the world's most dangerous mountains and against an unknown assailant who is picking climbers off one by one.

" ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2 Exhilarating! I’m fascinated with mountaineering and by anyone who attempts the 8000 meter “death-zone” climbs. This book put me right there. Maybe reading during during a windstorm helped (lol) but I was fully immersed, feeling the snow and icy wind on my face and the threat of an unknown stalker while facing the ominous danger of the mountainous ascent. I thought the tension built up perfectly and the ending was just right. "
"So this book started off really slow but it did eventually get really good for me. I did pretty much figure things out fairly early on which is kind of a bummer. I gotta say I don’t remember the last time that I got so invested in a book to be honest. I don’t know if it’s actually because the book was that interesting or if it was because I had the fable app to come put my thoughts in and it forced me to pay closer attention to my reactions..either way it was kind of a whirlwind for me."
"I was excited to read this book, however it ended up being a slow read. While it is considered a thriller, it was not fast paced at all and I got bored during points in the beginning. However, it got better as pages turned. I really enjoyed learning about how people actually climb mountains, especially when they can be full of snow. While it took time for me to really get into the story, I still think it was written in a great way and I slowly got invested in it, hence why it’s receiving a 3.5/5 stars."
"Suspenseful and thrilling. "
