"Young love is such a weakness for me, when it comes to YA. I really did enjoy this. John seemed a bit young for a cop, even if they did let them sign up at 19. The role of cop made it a little harder to imagine him as still a teen and not as an older cop. It was the only thing that bugged me about this book and not even that much. It was just the moments when Meg described him as a boy that it kept throwing me for a loop. The set up of the book was good. It had me on the verge of tears in different spots. Even though Meg seemed to be on the edge for most of the book, you can tell she is hiding her vulnerable parts and it made me eager to learn why she was the way she was. Meg was definitely a character that you can't help but want to like and love. Meg isn't the only one with problems. I like how not only was Meg in need of John as John was of Meg. John doesn't have it all put together, he's still struggling with his own demons and it definitely helps put everything into prospective that neither are perfect, but human and very relatable. I had read another book by Jennifer Echols and I have found that I love the way she can tell a story. Her narrative is almost flawless. She doesn't overwhelm the reader with too many details nor with too much inner dialogue. She also has a way with projecting emotion so that the reader can experience everything the character does. I highly recommend not only this book, but anything by Jennifer Echols. This is labeled YA, but it does have some strong sexual content in here, while you don't have the actual sex in the book, it does have some pretty strong description of what is going on first."
