#1 Indie Next Pick!A Hall of Fame LibraryReads pick! One of People’s Best Books to Read in FebruaryA dangerous alliance between a Vampyre bride and an Alpha Werewolf becomes a love deep enough to sink your teeth into in this new paranormal romance from the #1 New York Times bestselling author of Love, Theoretically and The Love Hypothesis. Misery Lark, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman of the Southwest, is an outcast—again. Her days of living in anonymity among the Humans are over: she has been called upon to uphold a historic peacekeeping alliance between the Vampyres and their mortal enemies, the Weres, and she sees little choice but to surrender herself in the exchange—again... Weres are ruthless and unpredictable, and their Alpha, Lowe Moreland, is no exception. He rules his pack with absolute authority, but not without justice. And, unlike the Vampyre Council, not without feeling. It’s clear from the way he tracks Misery’s every movement that he doesn’t trust her. If only he knew how right he was…. Because Misery has her own reasons to agree to this marriage of convenience, reasons that have nothing to do with politics or alliances, and everything to do with the only thing she's ever cared about. And she is willing to do whatever it takes to get back what’s hers, even if it means a life alone in Were territory…alone with the wolf.

"I didn't know quite what to expect when I started this book. I've read Ali's other books and enjoyed them, but you never know what to expect with a genre switch like this one. That being said, I was not disappointed in the least! I absolutely adored this book! The characters are lovable, the plot is really good, and the spice is *chef's kiss!* Lowe is so sweet, and I adored Misery! Fated mates, werewolf x vampire, arranged marriage, enemies to lovers, slow burn! If you're a paranormal romance lover or an Ali Hazelwood fan then this book is definitely worth checking out!"

"Oh my goodness I love Ali Hazelwood! This was fun creative and also surprisingly steamy. I’ve read all of Ali Hazelwood’s other books and enjoyed them all but the fantasy elements and mate elements really did it for me with this one. Overall great time! I’d put the spice at like a 2.5-3/5 a lot more then her other books and some great tension. "

"I kinda was obsessed with this book. It’s the perfect blend of contemporary romance with the omega verse! If you’re into urban fantasy this might be for you! I got a soft spot for werewolves 🥴"

"This is a great werewolf and vampire love story. By the end it gets really spicy (warning). I loved the politics in this and the slow burn of the romance. I would be ok if she did more instead of this being a stand alone book. "

"I have such mixed feeling about this book .. it was a wild ride. The romance was good. Until the knot. What the hell was that. It was fun in a cringe-worthy way and felt like a fanfic of Bella and jacob. "

"I adore everything Ali Hazelwood writes, and this was no exception. I devoured it in one day and I am so sad it’s over. Her characters are perfect, the romance is perfect. I rarely read books more than once, but I am saving this for a reread. "

"3.5. Look I’ve never been a fan of Ali’s books. However, I decided to try again because romantasy makes everything better, right? This was a fun ride. I liked it and I’m glad I read it. However there are two things I can’t get past. 1. The *m*t in this was so bad. Ali should go straight to prison. Call me old fashioned, but I have never been *into that thing that writers always do when it’s werewolf 🌽 * I’m not going to spoil it but fantasy girlies you know what I’m getting at. 2. At some point the MMC says something so hurtful and outta pocket I can’t get over it. Emotional damage that we just gloss over completely.
I think this was amusing and I’m interested to see if she does other fantasy romance books. A STEM sorcerer? A mathematician magician? An elf engineer? A changeling chemist? I could be into it."

"The characters are awesome, especially Serena and Lowe :) The story itself was passionate with not one single dull moment! First time Hazelwood released paranormal romance with a mystery subplot, and I think it was great!"
