Ambition will fuel him. Competition will drive him. But power has its price. It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the tenth annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, eighteen-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to outcharm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He's been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low. Their fates are now completely intertwined - every choice Coriolanus makes could lead to favour or failure, triumph or ruin. Inside the arena, it will be a fight to the death. Outside the arena, Coriolanus starts to feel for his doomed tribute . . . and must weigh his need to follow the rules against his desire to survive no matter what it takes.

"Ending felt rushed and sudden, but the book was well written and interesting. I enjoyed being put back into the world of Panem and learning about the background of the Hunger Games."

"On par with the original trilogy. I swear the Mandala effect has taken place because I swear his name was Cornelius. You wanted so badly for Coriolanus and Lucy Grey to be end game, but you knew it just wasn't ment to be. Great time ins with the original trilogy, it makes his fall at the end all the more brilliant, if not a little sadistic. We love a good villain origin story, but it made him seem more like a tragic character than an all out villain. 8/10"

"I give this book a 6.5-7/10 it was way too long and a lot of the stuff in here was filler and wasn’t interesting to read even if it wasn’t necessary to the plot. I read this before the movie but I can say that the movie is a 9/10!! I think it was made for the screen and it was a lot better than the book. It doesn’t really show why Snow becomes evil like people say it does I think it just shows how Snow was always evil. This book didn’t need to exist but it didn’t not need to exist. If your a die hard hunger games fan like myself it is a must but if you just casually enjoy the series then I wouldn’t say you have to read it, the movie is just fine!"

"This book makes you forget that you’re supposed to hate Snow. You actually start to sympathies and support Snow. Until you’re reminded of the monster he truly is "

"Oh my God, this book was amazing. I loved seeing how Coriolanus came to be the villain in the main trilogy. Lucy Gray will forever be my girl, I love her. I thought the plot was amazing. I also thought that Coryo was written perfectly. I really did think he was crazy. "

"I’m going to get a lot of hate…but maybe I just don’t get the hunger games series. I was just bored. I’ve seen the movies didn’t get it. Thought the books would be better…not so much. This series was a pass for me "

"10/10 Not gonna lie, I was bit worried about this book not living up to the same magic as the original Hunger Games, but, man, was I wrong. It was absolutely phenomenal; one of my best reads all year. Loved experiencing Snow’s progression, and was rooting for Lucy Gray the entire time. I love the writing style of Suzanne where she rushes through what might be considered “big parts” in order for the reader to experience them in the way Snow would."
