"I found this novel a little slow for my liking. I was hoping for some chilling moments, but really never had any. I was a little disappointed to be honest."

"I loved this throwback to the British Gothic novel. This one really addresses the crumbling British aristocracy and ideas of class and gender. Absolutely mesmerizing."

"While reading this, I was planning on only giving it four stars, mainly because the main character felt a little flat. But after the ending, and ESPECIALLY after I read a scholarly paper on The Little Stranger, I was like whoa!! Mind = blown. Looking at the book from this perspective, I think it's one of the best examples I've come across of an unreliable narrator. He's so unreliable, you might not even realize it...!

Recently I read Wish Her Safe at Home, and it reminded me of this one for several reasons:
1) It's incredibly well-written.
2) It features an old, slightly surreal house, and the interplay between the house and its residents.
3) Its narrator is unreliable, but it takes you a while to sense this.

Reviews of life-changing vintage fiction you've never even heard of: www.Anotherlookbook.com"
