Tara Road - Likewise Book Reviews
"I had problems really rooting for the main character as I just wanted her to "wake up and smell the coffee already, sheesh." Plus, even at the end of the book, I still had difficulty remembering who some of the side characters were, as there were far too many to keep track of. I understand Binchy wanted to create a "world" but sometimes it felt like I was needing to pay attention to too many lives. The only reason I gave this three stars rather than two is because I did like her writing style. I've also read parts of another of her books, Chestnut Street, which is a compilation of character studies--not even quite short stories--and in some ways enjoyed that more because it was much more an experience of her writing style without having to deal with long-term relationships with characters I wasn't sure I even liked or couldn't remember who they were from one page to the next. So, I didn't love Tara Road, but I also didn't hate it. I could see myself possibly reading another book of hers in the future, maybe."
