"In this charming and poignant debut, one woman's unconventional journey to finding love means learning to embrace the unexpected. For Susan Green, messy emotions don't fit into the equation of her perfectly ordered life. She has a flat that is ideal forone, a job that suits her passion for logic, and an "interpersonal arrangement" that provides cultural and other, more intimate, benefits. But suddenly confronted with the loss of her mother and the news that she is about to become a mother herself, Susan's greatest fear is realized. She is losing control. Enter Rob, the dubious but well-meaning friend of her indolent brother. As Susan's due date draws near and her dismantled world falls further into a tailspin, Susan finds an unlikely ally in Rob. She might have a chance at finding real love and learning to love herself, if only she can figure out how to let go"--

"I can't even finish this, the way she talks is so pretentious, she thinks she's better than everyone, she's not a strong independent woman she's just rude and spiteful, I kept expecting her to at least have autism or SOMETHING that would explain her behavior"

"Quirky and rigid. The main character is so set in her ways she is unable to be pricked by any inconveinence that is thrown her way. That is until, the death of her mother and a surprise pregnancy at 45. She learns to tear down her walls and view life in new perspectives. "

"I’ll admit, this is not a book I would have picked up if it wasn’t a Hello Sunshine pick. And I definitely wouldn’t have stuck with it if it had been recommended by anyone other than my queen and idol, Reese Witherspoon. But these two factors compelled me to keep reading, and I’m extremely glad for it! I really enjoyed this, despite the fact that for about half the book I was extremely annoyed by Susan. But as Susan herself says, I’d rather read about someone interesting than someone who’s just nice. The story was wonderful and unexpected, and it’s exactly what I was looking for!"

"Slow at first, even dull for the first 10 chapters but turns into a well written story about coming to terms with the unexpected past and present. "

"The audiobook narration was excellent. I was especially drawn to the main character’s Aunt Sylvie. She reminded me so much of my British Nana who passed away. Her dialog brought back wonderful memories of our chats."

"I did eventually like this story, but it took a lot of patience from me regarding the main character. "

"Very slow build, but overall an enjoyable read. Main character Susan is laughably stuck in her ways, which makes her character growth that much sweeter."
