A sapphic rivals to lovers rom com for fans of Ted Lasso and A League of Their Own, where two soccer teammates are at odds before falling in love as their team gears up for the World Cup. Grace Henderson has been a star of the US Women’s National Team for ten years, even though she’s only 26. But when she’s sidelined with an injury, a bold new upstart, Phoebe Matthews, takes her spot. 22-year-old Phoebe is everything Grace isn’t―a gregarious jokester who plays with a joy that Grace lost somewhere along the way. The last thing Grace expects is to become teammates with benefits with this class clown she sees as her rival. Phoebe Matthews is too focused on her first season as a professional soccer player to think about seducing her longtime idol. But when Grace ends up making the first move, they can’t keep their hands off of each other. As the World Cup approaches and Grace works her way back from injury, a miscommunication leaves the women with hilariously different perspectives on their relationship. But they’re on the same page on the field, realizing they can play together instead of vying for the same position. With every tackle the tension between them grows, and both players soon have to decide what's more important―being together or making the roster. The perfect blend of funny and steamy, Meryl Wilsner’s Cleat Cute is about being brave enough to win on and off the field.

"The cutest kind of sapphic romance is when you one of you thinks that you don’t have feelings for each other and the other thinks you’ve been in a relationship for a month! Lmaooo! COMMUNICATE BETTER. Use your words when you’re talking to a potential partner! I love phoebe so much. She’s ADHD And ***** like all the time! So like I love it! Iconic "
"I loved it, it’s a secret relationship/friends with benefits type of romance but has a good ending. Now what i didn’t like was…
SPOILER⬇️
Phoebe’s ADHD was like so, i don’t think this word is what i’m looking for to describe it but, forced. I don’t really know how to explain it, I see where the author is coming from and I’m glad there’s representation about it, but it was mentioned just so out of the sudden, just like the misunderstood fight Grace and Phoebe had when it was mentioned. Like i don’t know, it could’ve been talked about way more in the beginning of the book instead of when the story was about to finish, just so it could foreshadow, but that’s just my opinion.
I’m still gonna give it 5⭐️ since I really liked it and enjoyed reading it."

"This book was good. The story follows Phoebe and Grace, two professional soccer players. Grace has always been Phoebe’s idol and they finally meet during a soccer camp for the national team just before starting to play for the same team. One thing leads to another and they start seing each other casually. They are complete opposite which is fantastic for the grumpy/sunshine trope that it creates. I loved the progression of their relationship, but it felt redundant at some time. There was more telling than showing which I did not hate, but did not love either. Overall it was cute though.<br/><br/>Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this book.<br/>"
