"I just was the book in 7th grade. I don’t remember the ending, but I remember the setting. I believe the themes in the book are especially relevant in 2020."

"Still good! I read this back in middle school actually, but still enjoyed it again. I love historical fiction."
"As a middle school English Language Arts (ELA) teacher, I taught this book in the fall semester, around Halloween, and my students thoroughly enjoyed it. In spite of the fact that it is on the Banned Book List, I highly recommend including the award-winning novel in classroom curriculum."
"Another beautiful book.<br/>If you want a book to convince you that the Puritans were horrible and the Quakers were great, this is the book for you. I truly appreciate how Elizabeth portrays the ills of past religious/American society in a way that shows their true horror. I also appreciate that she gracefully paints some of their positive qualities, particularly toward the end of the book. However, through most of my reading, I was planning to review this book with four stars, partially because of its unfairly accusative portrayal of the Puritans. However, the gradual shift towards realizing the Puritan's small strengths is reflective of Kit's own journey through hating and then beginning to understand the strict Puritan mindset.<br/><spoiler>I was also (half) hoping that this book would end negatively, most likely with both Kit and Hannah being hung for witchcraft. It seemed to fit the general slant of the book thus far, and it would have strengthened the author's point (and authors are always too afraid to do it). Still, this was obviously meant to be an uplifting and generally positive book, and I always like a happy ending. So overall, I enjoy this ending more.</spoiler>"
