"This is a great book to give a middle aged white man who has never considered his position in society to be precarious. For the rest of us, this book misses some important points: like that the media is owned entirely by corporate oligarchy, that NGO’s sometimes operate as money laundering schemes and should be examined critically, and that not all socialist societies will inevitably end up under totalitarianism. "

"This is a no-******** succinct wake-up call to all americans on how easy it is to subliminally lose our democracy and freedom. Most drastic historical event did not happen overnight, they took place slowly and people did not notice them or care enough to fight against them, and next thing you know your country is ruled by a fascist who is burning societies alive and the world is plunged into a war, and there's very little you can do about it. So, do something when you can. Talk about things, disagree with people, argue a little, make eye contact, support local newspapers, partake in social activities, find and support at least once cause you care about. Little things like this add up to make big differences. Don't take this democracy and freedom for granted, it requires constant vigilance and active participation."
