"This book was fine. Didn't quite capture my interest like I wanted, but I did more so in the end. I probably won't read the second book."

"Exceptional middle grade/early YA fiction. Strong female characters, some light realistic romance in a way that doesn't undermine the character development. I'm quite certain this is a re-read for me but it's been a VERY long time. Can't wait to get into the sequels."

"Land of stories was my favorite as a kid"
"I find Miri only slightly annoying as a character. However, for a book written in 2005, she's actually a very believable heroine. At first I thought the pick me energy was going to be awful because of the fact that she was "small" but the preemie thing was such a good addition to the book/plot. Turns out Miri knows that if you're going to change a system you have to both work outside of it and undermine it (slay). What can we say, she was ahead of her time.

The audiobook made the dialogue sound extremely cringey, ESPECIALLY Peters. If Miri and Peter are not endgame I'm throwing hands, by the way. Miss Miri is always shooting herself in the foot with Peter and I'm so bothered by her.

I really liked the end of the book, but hated the first part (it was going to be 2-3 stars, but the ending solidly raised it). I feel like I'm catching up on childhood staples. I love princess books."
