Don’t miss the TV series, Dark Winds, based on the Leaphorn, Chee, & Manuelito novels, now on AMC and AMC+! “Brilliant…as fascinating as it is original.”—St. Louis Post-DispatchFrom New York Times bestselling author Tony Hillerman, the first novel in his series featuring Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn & Officer Jim Chee who encounter a bizarre case that borders between the supernatural and murderHomicide is always an abomination, but there is something exceptionally disturbing about the victim discovered in a high, lonely place—a corpse with a mouth full of sand—abandoned at a crime scene seemingly devoid of tracks or useful clues. Though it goes against his better judgment, Navajo Tribal Police Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn cannot help but suspect the hand of a supernatural killer. There is palpable evil in the air, and Leaphorn's pursuit of a Wolf-Witch leads him where even the bravest men fear, on a chilling trail that winds perilously between mysticism and murder.

"Being a fan of Native American lore & legends I was happy to read this first book in the series.

I love how, in the beggining, there are stories, superstitions, & talk of witches, but as the plot unfolds it takes a modern direction I did not expect at all. Actually I was a bit dissapointed at how events turned out along with motive for murder, but the entire time the book kept my attention, & there was definitely action.

However, I found the characters a bit dry, & not as likeable as they could be.

Scenery was great & not overdone.

While I find The Blessing Way OK but nothing to brag about it takes a lot for a series to turn me away so im not opposed to reading the next one. Especially because many times you have to take into account the details & info that needs to go into the first book to start off & build up the entire series. Who knows, I might have a completely different opinion about Dance Hall of the Dead!"
