"My heart was broken FIRST sentence of this book. Oh how the first book would have been 5 stars if it included Finn’s POV. My heart was ACHING and I was SOBBING the entire time. This book was so much more heartbreaking since we get to know Finn. I don’t know who decided that adding jack’s pov was a great idea.. because it WRECKED me. "

"the book wasn’t bad. it was good, but i liked the first one better. this book just made everything from the first book make sense. i figured out that all autumn was doing was trying to find finny in people. he was trying to be around people who knew finny so she can feel like she’s with finny. with the new baby coming, she felt close so finny since the baby was his. but he’s physically not there."

"LOOVEEEDDDD FINNYS POVVV!!!!! i wish there was more of it😭😭😭at least half the book finnys pov i wish it was🥲but hes so cute wgy cant everyone be like him😭 i love jacks pov!! it really gets all the questions that u think after a loved one dies, and the roomate stuff how he understood jack was great i loved that. autumns pov it made me understand the ending of the last book which was great, but i was hoping at the end if the book she wouldve given birth and seen that the baby looks like finny or smth or a jump to 10 yrs from then where the kid sees the book autumn and finnys dad made or smth, i was disappointed on that part🥲 lowkey was forcing myself to finish the book towards the end. if he had been with me was wayyyy better but this was good to, i thought it would be better butt it was good. i just wouldve liked more if finnys pov was longer !!"

"I’m glad there is a sequel to If He Had Been With Me because with the way the first book ended, it definitely needed a sequel! by itself, this book probably wouldn’t be very good. it probably wouldn’t make much sense if you hadn’t read the first book. but as a sequel, it’s great! it was nice to read from Finny’s pov and it gives more understanding to many things that happened in the first book. Jack’s pov was definitely unexpected and I felt so sad for him. you get a little more to the story with Autumn’s pov in the last 1/3 of the book, as it’s a continuation of IHHBWM. I do wish it was slightly longer and we would have been able to see that she had her baby and everything was okay! or maybe an epilogue would have been nice. I think I kind of liked this book more than the first even though it would have been confusing if I hadn’t read the first! 3.75/5⭐️"
