"The use of footnotes immerses the reader in the story, making it feel like a historic account of magic instead of just fiction. "

"It took me 80 hours to listen to the audiobook. I had to replay a lot of things multiple times. It's a great story with phenomenal character description. I just wished I would have read it, instead of listened to it. This story is written so well that you find yourself believing in these magicians, that they actually existed. It's a fantastic story of obsession, and how many things take a back seat to it. It's a tough read, but worth it. "I'd like you to remember me, with my nose in a book""

"A behemoth of a book that I enjoyed every minute of. This story is for the anglophile history nerd, as it’s written with a Austenian affectation. It’s charming and riveting, and the conflicts are immensely fascinating. "

"Love this book! I truly wish it were part of a series. It reminded me of "Harry Potter", however for adults! "
