Stephen King
Now a Netflix movie directed by Mike Flanagan (Oculus, Hush) and starring Carla Gugino and Bruce Greenwood. Master storyteller Stephen King presents this classic, terrifying #1 New York Times bestseller. When a game of seduction between a husband and wife ends in death, the nightmare has only begun…“And now the voice which spoke belonged to no one but herself. Oh my God, it said. Oh my God, I am all alone out here. I am all alone.” Once again, Jessie Burlingame has been talked into submitting to her husband Gerald’s kinky sex games—something that she’s frankly had enough of, and they never held much charm for her to begin with. So much for a “romantic getaway” at their secluded summer home. After Jessie is handcuffed to the bedposts—and Gerald crosses a line with his wife—the day ends with deadly consequences. Now Jessie is utterly trapped in an isolated lakeside house that has become her prison—and comes face-to-face with her deepest, darkest fears and memories. Her only company is that of the various voices filling her mind…as well as the shadows of nightfall that may conceal an imagined or very real threat right there with her…

"Hard book to read given all the SA content, but well worth the read. "

"Gerald's Game is my top creepy book ever. It makes Silence of the Lambs look like The Teddy Bear's Picnic. 😨"

"Gerald's Game is...a lot. This book joins the club of great books that you only need to read once. It was horrifying, and entirely too graphic, but it was still a good story. It was actually almost a 5⭐ book for me, but I am not a fan of how it ended. I felt the same way about Dreamcatcher - I liked the book itself, but there was too much effort put into wrapping up the ending, and the final reveal seemed unnecessary. I would have been okay with it being a little more vague (usually I'm complaining about the opposite haha). Anyway, I thought it was good, but it was also disturbing, gross, and graphic."

"I definitely would’ve DNF’ed if I wasn’t it reading for a readathon. I can see why people like this, but it is absolutely not for me and the exact opposite of what I’m looking for."

"Stephen King is one of my favorite authors. This book is incredibly well written and always held my attention. The details were amazing and helped the story play out flawlessly. It is an amazing horror/psychological thriller-type novel. "
