Stephen King
In 1978, Stephen King introduced the world to the last gunslinger, Roland of Gilead. Nothing has been the same since. More than twenty years later, the quest for the Dark Tower continues to take readers on a wildly epic ride. Through parallel worlds and across time, Roland must brave desolate wastelands and endless deserts, drifting into the unimaginable and the familiar. A classic tale of colossal scope--crossing over terrain from "The Stand," "The Eyes of the Dragon," "Insomnia," "The Talisman," "Black House," "Hearts in Atlantis," "'Salem's Lot," and other familiar King haunts--the adventure takes hold with the turn of each page. And the tower awaits.... The Second Volume in the Epic Dark Tower Series... The Drawing of the Three While pursuing his quest for the Dark Tower through a world that is a nightmarishly distorted mirror image of our own, Roland is drawn through a mysterious door that brings him into contemporary America. Here he links forces with the defiant young Eddie Dean, and with the beautiful, brilliant, and brave Odetta Holmes, in a savage struggle against underworld evil and otherworldly enemies. Once again, Stephen King has masterfully interwoven dark, evocative fantasy and icy realism.

"This one got me hooked in The Dark Tower series. The best group of characters in any book. It draws you in and you will love it !!! "

" The second book in the series, I thought there would be more to it. Instead, they spent more time in one area and felt like they did a whole lot of nothing. I still enjoyed it but wished there was more. "

"I finished this book in a weekend and I enjoyed it a lot more than the first one. I am borrowing the books so I'm still reading from the same Spanish editorial but this book was better translated than the other. I liked the way the story mingles the timelines of the Gunslinger and the Three and it left me with a lot of questions in a good way.
I am a bit skeptical about what's coming next since things tend to appear out of nowhere with no real explanation but heck, almost half of what happens in the story is like that so I better deal with it."

"
Three. This is the number of your fate.

Calamity Bev here.

I was a teeny bit hesitant to saddle up and ride with the posse
(Jumpin’ Jeff,
Rootin’ Tootin’ Pistol Packin’ Delee,
Quick Draw Stepheny, and
Straight Shootin’ Susan) when they continued their journey towards the Dark Tower, because I had struggled to get through The Gunslinger. The Drawing of the Three, however, has redeemed the series, and I will gladly join them every time they decide to follow the Path of the Beam.

DotT begins just hours after The Gunslinger ends, and Roland has woken to find himself in one hell of a predicament.

Dud-a-chum? Dod-a-chock?

The lobstrosities don't kill Roland, but they certainly maim him. It's hard to be a Gunslinger (at least a Gunslinger that shoots accurately) missing two fingers from your right hand, not to mention part of your calf, and a big toe. The cards are stacked against him. His revolvers have also gotten wet, most likely ruining his ammunition; his wounds are beginning to get infected; AND (no pressure) he has to draw three people into his world to continue his quest to the Tower. He realizes he's in a ****** situation.

Very well. I am now a man with no food, two less fingers and one less toe than I was born with; I am a gunslinger with shells that may not fire; I am sickening from a monster's bite and have no medicine; I have a day's water if I'm lucky; I may be able to walk perhaps a dozen miles if I press myself to the last extremity. I am, in short, a man on the edge of everything.

He begins walking north, and finds the first door he must enter, marked The Prisoner. The prisoner is Eddie Dean, a heroin addict that is in a predicament of his own.

The second door, marked The Lady of Shadows, houses the world of Odetta Holmes, a paraplegic with dark secrets.

Behind the third and final door, marked The Pusher, lies Jack Mort, a murderer who is linked to the others in ways you can't begin to imagine.

By the end of this book, my eyes were bulging out of my head. Thank you to Stepheny for pushing me to continue on my journey. I can't wait to read The Wastelands with the posse later in the month!"

"Well on to book 3.....

I knew once I started this series I wouldn't want to put it down but now I'm beyond curious. How is all of this gonna play out... How will this crew of three defeat the msn in black or will they? Do we get to see Jake again?

Stephen King loves to leave you with questions at the end of his books and thank goodness there are several more books in this serious that may just answer that question. Or may just bring more that's the beauty of it. I won't know til I'm done.
And that's the beauty of a great series!!!!"
