"True enemies, lovers?

Not sure yet but can’t wait to find out.
Both are fighting for the crown of the City of Thorns. Who will come out on top?"
"I just read 270 pages and my main reaction is "wait, thats it?".
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed what I read but it doesn't feel as if the story progressed as much as it could in nearly 300 pages.

I was looking forward to some relationship development between Rowan and Orion. Didn't really get that, there is some back and forth but I think at the end we are nearly exactly where we started.

Some plot questions were answered but for me they just didn't move the plot forward enough. At least not for nearly 300 pages.

~300 pages is pretty normal novel length isn't it? Why do I have the feeling I read so much less than that.

Still 4* because I love the world building and I enjoy both main characters. And I am looking forward to book 3.

Why does this book feel as if it's as filler.."

"Definitely a marked improvement from the first as far as the writing goes. This book has much more depth. Love the demon intrigue between succubus and incubus. Looking forward to the 3rd."
