The award-winning bestseller that became one of the most talked about and memorable novels of the decade, Room is "utterly gripping...a heart-stopping novel" (San Francisco Chronicle). Held captive for years in a small shed, a woman and her precocious young son finally gain their freedom, and the boy experiences the outside world for the first time.To five-year-old-Jack, Room is the world. It's where he was born, it's where he and his Ma eat and sleep and play and learn. At night, his Ma shuts him safely in the wardrobe, where he is meant to be asleep when Old Nick visits.Room is home to Jack, but to Ma it's the prison where she has been held for seven years. Through her fierce love for her son, she has created a life for him in this eleven-by-eleven-foot space. But with Jack's curiosity building alongside her own desperation, she knows that Room cannot contain either much longer.Room is a tale at once shocking, riveting, exhilarating — a story of unconquerable love in harrowing circumstances, and of the diamond-hard bond between a mother and her child.

"I was only able to get through this due to the narrator’s obliviousness. I couldnt cope with the movie. Well written, but i’m not rereading it."

"I saw the movie a few years back thought it was good, bought this book last year. I was not expecting to read it from the child's point of view. It took a little adjusting but I got used to it. The story was great, I've felt bad, one the verge of tears, with just the way he talks about everything especially his feelings for his mom. Great story, perfect ending."

"This was a good story. It was hard to read but worth the read. Sad for the realization of what happened to her and her son."

"It was okay but slow the first 2/3 of the book 3 out of 5 for me "

"I thought it was so interesting to see such tragic events through a five year old’s oblivious eyes. Ma made you cry and Jack made you laugh. The ending had me in tears "

"So unique! Told from the perspective of a five year old boy. His interpretation of the world is so funny at times. And the book is very sad sweet too. Bittersweet. "

"I saw the movie forever ago, and hadn’t read the book. Happy to read now since I couldn’t remember most of it anymore. It took me about a third of the way to get used to reading from the child’s broken language but I did get used to it, and it was a great read!! "
