Terry Pratchett
Terry Pratchett's profoundly irreverent novels are consistent number one bestsellers in England, where they have garnered him a revered position in the halls of parody next to Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. The Color of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the now-legendary land of Discworld. This is where it all begins--with the tourist Twoflower and his wizard guide, Rincewind.

"So fun! I love all the details that Pratchett thinks of in imagining a flat world. Even the way language is different based on the fact that they are on a disc. The directions are hubward (toward the center), rimward (toward the rim), turnwise (along the direction that the disc is spinning), and widdershins (opposite direction), not north, south, etc."
"This was the beginning of my love of all things Discworld. I actually grieved when I finished the entire collection. I still haven't found anything, other than Neil Gaiman, that has come close to this book and the ones that follow. "

"Is anyone else reading Terry Pratchett in 2020 to escape for a little while? I feel like the Discworld books have been brought up to me multiple times from multiple people this year, so I went to where the whole thing began. I think I’ll give myself permission to explore this world based on where my interests lie, and while the OCD part of me is screaming to go in order, that’s really not how my 2020 brain (or actually Discworld) works. I loved many parts of this, and was kind of meh about others, so I will go where I’m most drawn to, which is obviously magic and witches...what can I say, I know what I like."

"The Big Bang theory. *chuckle* I read some of the Discworld books, years ago. I remember liking them, but don't really remember them. I begin the journey anew, then, and with the greatest of eagerness. The only reason The Colour of Magic gets three stars is because I'm certain that there are four- and five-star books in the series."
"Cannot believe "likes" have yet to break a 1k"
