Peter Straub
#1 New York Times bestselling author Peter Straub’s classic tale of horror, secrets, and the dangerous ghosts of the past... What was the worst thing you’ve ever done? In the sleepy town of Milburn, New York, four old men gather to tell each other stories—some true, some made-up, all of them frightening. A simple pastime to divert themselves from their quiet lives. But one story is coming back to haunt them and their small town. A tale of something they did long ago. A wicked mistake. A horrifying accident. And they are about to learn that no one can bury the past forever...

"This book is kind of a slow burn, but in an engaging and interesting way."

"Perfect book to read during fall and summer, the best times of the year to encounter a ghost"

"I read over 100 pages & can't do it anymore. I will leave you with these words:<br/><br/>"He looked at the way her breasts pushed out the fabric of her blouse, his mind filled with sensations of their weight, their density. He was so hard that his ***** felt like the trunk of a tree.""

"My favorite supernatural book not written by Stephen King. I read the last half virtually non-stop. I had to see what happened. "

"This showed up on several lists of best horror and scariest, and it failed on both parts for me. I found Straub's writing to be long-winded and convoluted and I had to look up interpretations of the ending because I really didn't understand what happened. There were a couple creepy scenes, but it felt like any time we built up to something it would fizzle out."

"Slow beginning but very interesting how every little things falls into one big plot."

"I read Rock Paper Scissors. That was good very twisty especially at the end. At the moment I am reading a self-help book that was a recommended read to me called Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents and it has been a good read so far very interesting and enlightening."
