A sapphic Netflix-esque Christmas movie meets How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days from the New York Times bestselling author duo of She Gets the Girl Rachael Lippincott and Alyson Derrick. Twelve days of fake dates. Two holidays. One chance to convince everyone they're in love. Hollywood teen actor Arden James' messy reputation is interfering with her career when a notoriously picky director won't give her a role based on her party-girl image. So she and her publicist make up a lie - not only is she from a small town (true) but her childhood best friend Caroline, is her long-term girlfriend (false) and she can prove it when she goes home for Christmas. Caroline Beckett hasn't thought about her ex-best friend Arden James for years, focusing instead on her dreams about becoming a journalist. When Arden turns up on her doorstep and promises her an article in Cosmopolitan magazine on their twelve snow-covered romantic days together, Caroline agrees to play along. But when old feelings start to bubble up, what will fall faster - Arden and Caroline or the Christmas Eve snow?

"Rachael and Alyson are both my favorite YA romance authors, so a holiday romance from them felt so exciting… but this was such a letdown. Caroline and Arden, as well as their fake-dates were cute, and I loved the Jewish representation in a Christmas story, but that’s all I liked. It wasn’t bad, but my favorite parts of Alyson and Rachael’s books are the emotional depth and themes, and compared to their other books, the depth in this book was either missing entirely or too generic to make an impact. And when you add the rushed ending, a side character going from tolerable to a Disney villain like person in the cringiest and most unrealistic possible, and a massive plot point being unresolved (even if it’s because the book took place over only two weeks), it leaves something to be desired. The entire point of the book is to have a Hallmark movie vibe, which is fine and wholesome, but it’s an approach that severely limits the author’s potential but it’s my least favorite book from these authors, and would encourage you to read their other books (which I all rated 4-5 stars) if you want to truly see their potential. But if you simply want a cute romance to get you into the season, this is the book for you. "
"So glad I finished this during the holiday season! Overall, cute story and of course I’m a sucker for a small town that has a quaint atmosphere, which both authors really shine at.
I did like the main couple & history, but compared to Rachel’s “Lucky List”, I just can’t give this a 5.
Excited to read more of their work, both solo and together. ❄️"
