Two lives. Two loves. One impossible choice. From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Reese’s Book Club Pick One Day in December . . . “I read The Two Lives of Lydia Bird in a single sitting. What a beautiful, emotional gift Josie Silver has given us.”—Jodi PicoultWritten with Josie Silver’s trademark warmth and wit, The Two Lives of Lydia Bird is a powerful and thrilling love story about the what-ifs that arise at life’s crossroads, and what happens when one woman is given a miraculous chance to answer them. Lydia and Freddie. Freddie and Lydia. They’d been together for more than a decade and Lydia thought their love was indestructible. But she was wrong. On Lydia’s twenty-eighth birthday, Freddie died in a car accident. So now it’s just Lydia, and all she wants is to hide indoors and sob until her eyes fall out. But Lydia knows that Freddie would want her to try to live fully, happily, even without him. So, enlisting the help of his best friend, Jonah, and her sister, Elle, she takes her first tentative steps into the world, open to life—and perhaps even love—again. But then something inexplicable happens that gives her another chance at her old life with Freddie. A life where none of the tragic events of the past few months have happened. Lydia is pulled again and again through the doorway to her past, living two lives, impossibly, at once. But there’s an emotional toll to returning to a world where Freddie, alive, still owns her heart. Because there’s someone in her new life, her real life, who wants her to stay.

"This is a bit too slow for me. Now I didn't finish but, I will come back to it just at a different time. I did enjoy what I read so far and that's why I'm giving it a 3 star rating. I really do recommend this book."

"3.2 - It was alright. It was less of a romance book than I thought it would be. It’s more of a slice-of-life than anything else. It shows someone coping with grief over loss of a boyfriend and learning about herself.

My biggest complaint was the abrupt starting and ending of chapters. Each chapter plunged into a new scene and setting with little warning and rarely didn’t continue from the last chapter. It was very jerky."

"Basic premise: what happens when the love of your life dies and you get prescribed sleeping pills that magically let you slide into an alternate reality where he is still alive and you are still together? Do you continue to live the life you have or live to sleep? A lot of reviews say this is a bit slow (this isn't an action packed novel, if that's what you are looking for look elsewhere), but I enjoyed it."

"It’s usually pretty hard to have a perfect ending to a book, however The Two Lives of Lydia Bird has the perfect-est ending I could ever hope for. I was left in tears. I love the way the story wrapped up, and the hopeful note it ended on. I also think it does a great job exploring loss, grief, and healing."

"Well this has been a roller coaster. I went from not wanting to read this at all yesterday to finishing the entire book today. I can’t explain it; I went to bed wondering how the story turned out, and woke up with a burning desire to discover that answer. And I’m really, really glad I did. Honestly, for me this was less of a romance than a self discovery story. Lydia goes through hell and back, and I admire her for that. But for me, the real treat here was the wonderful relationship Lydia has with her family. Truthfully I cried more from the family love than I did from the romantic love, but knowing me that makes sense. This was an excellent story, and I’m really glad I decided to stick with it!"

"Loved this story, I’d try to guess where the plot was going but I’d be pleasantly surprised. I liked to way it had you almost be along side Lydia and her grief and I was happy with the resolution at the end. "
