"These books have their ups and downs, but there's a reason I stuck through the entire first series (haven't gotten to the second series yet). Even at their worst, these books are laugh-out-loud funny. At best, they are compelling, fun, and filled with great characters and great character interactions. If you like snappy dialogue, fight scenes, well-defined (despite not always being followed through on) characters, and entertaining bad guys, this series is for you."
