Murtagh - Likewise Book Reviews
"This book was like greeting an old friend. It was very easy to jump back into Alegaesia. With Murtagh finding his place in the world as a dragon rider you sometimes forget this isn't Eragon anymore. But they are still two very different people if you discount all the trouble they get themselves into. Ugh, boys! Am I right?
The story started strong. It was about Murtagh and Thorn roaming and being free. I mean they deserved it after everything that happened. But then the story got stuck in one particular place..... for the rest of the book. It honestly dragged. I am so used to the adventures of Alagaesia. Murtagh and Thorn went to check out this witch and that's where they stayed.
Still other than that we got to delve into the mind of Murtagh and Thorn and I was not disappointed. Murtagh was more brutal than I realized and Thorn more unsure of himself. You also start to grasp how untrained Murtagh is. I would have rather the story been about someone taking him under their wing. Instead, something unfair happened to him AGAIN! I just think these two deserve better.
Still, by the end of the book, I was wanting more. I'm ready to move past this stagnate piece of the story to see them both grow and possibly find a place they belong."

"Wonderful falling back into this world again. It was a good story of Murtagh and his struggles. "
"I'm definitely biased because Murtagh was always my favorite character in the series but I thought this book was very well written. It has Paolini's usually rich world building yet wasn't as bogged down and slow as parts of the original series were. Murtagh continues to be a complex character which is more interesting to me than Eragon who was always a bit of a Mary Sue. Also Murtagh and Nasuada's relationship is better than whatever is going on between Eragon and Arya or not going on as the case may be. <br/>My only concern is that the ending seemed to set up a sequel and if that's the case, how long are we going to be waiting for it?"
