Once upon a time, I was a little girl who disappeared. Once upon a time, my name was not Alice. Once upon a time, I didn't know how lucky I was. When Alice was ten, Ray took her away from her family, her friends -- her life. She learned to give up all power, to endure all pain. She waited for the nightmare to be over. Now Alice is fifteen and Ray still has her, but he speaks more and more of her death. He does not know it is what she longs for. She does not know he has something more terrifying than death in mind for her. This is Alice's story. It is one you have never heard, and one you will never, ever forget.

"If you want a quick afternoon read full of feelings definitely give this a chance. I read it on a 40 minute ride home from the bookstore"

"I liked this book but I strongly disagree that it is YA appropriate."

"I really enjoyed this book. Instead of the main character doing everything to survive. This one is so broken, sad and wants everything to stop. Very well written and a real page turner. "

"Sad and gripping. The themes were definitely adult but I’m glad the author didn’t make these moments too explicit. I will say the writing was a bit strange to me. Use of commas and brackets, or lack there, of threw me off. Overall, an emotional 1 day read I can recommend."

"Quick and wildly upsetting read, finished this in about a day. Wouldn’t say I “enjoyed” it given the subject matter, but it was definitely engaging "
