After nearly eighteen months at Basgiath War College, Violet Sorrengail knows there’s no more time for lessons. No more time for uncertainty. Because the battle has truly begun, and with enemies closing in from outside their walls and within their ranks, it’s impossible to know who to trust. Now Violet must journey beyond the failing Aretian wards to seek allies from unfamiliar lands to stand with Navarre. The trip will test every bit of her wit, luck, and strength, but she will do anything to save what she loves―her dragons, her family, her home, and him. Even if it means keeping a secret so big, it could destroy everything. They need an army. They need power. They need magic. And they need the one thing only Violet can find―the truth. But a storm is coming...and not everyone can survive its wrath. The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order. Reading Order: Book #1 Fourth Wing Book #2 Iron Flame Book #3 Onyx Storm

"There's always so many twists and turns in this series with such a big cliffhanger. I can't wait until the next book comes out, and some of my questions might be answered. "

"It was not necessarily my favorite so far everyone is gearing up for the big showdown. The ending was a bit confusing (I believe it was meant to be) and a huge cliffhanger, it sucks gonna have to wait so long for the next book!"

"Love this series. J ust not this book quite as much as Fourth Wing. This is probably due to training and Academy settings being one of my favorite tropes."

""Onyx Storm," like the previous books in "The Empyrean" series, is a non-stop intense roller-coaster of action, adventure, and emotions!!! I loved how we got to explore past the continent and examine the isles!!! This book dived deeper into the setting and expanded the vast scope of the world Yarros created, and I loved it!!! I loved the character interactions and cried when beloved characters fell. This book may not have had the same impact as "Fourth Wing" had on some readers, but I felt that this book captured my heart like the previous books did! It focused on the emotional side of the spectrum, and I lived for it! It may be considered repetive or a chaotic mess, but the reality of war is pure chaos, and there is nothing clean and organized about it. I believe this book captured the essence of war and tried to humanize it through the eyes of our beloved main characters - by humanize I mean this book made an effort to show all sides of those engaged in this war and their reasoning behind it which is a powerful and meaningful approach. I seriously can not wait for the next book to be released because I want to see Violet grow in confidence and save Xaden from himself even if that means he doesn't fully return to his "true self". All in all, I found this book to be a fantastic read that kept me enthralled from the very first page to the last line!!!"

"Do we have to wait two years after an ending like that?!
This was such a strong and emotional conclusion to the third installment in the series. I cried twice—and I'm not someone who cries easily over books! I really appreciated the deeper look into the world and how much more layered it felt by the end. Without spoiling anything, if you’ve enjoyed the previous books, this one is an absolute must-read. The multiple POVs in the final chapters added so much depth, and I loved every second of it."
