The epic conclusion to the intensely romantic and beautifully written story that started in Divine Rivals. Two weeks have passed since Iris Winnow returned home bruised and heartbroken from the front, but the war is far from over. Roman is missing, and the city of Oath continues to dwell in a state of disbelief and ignorance. When Iris and Attie are given another chance to report on Dacre’s movements, they both take the opportunity and head westward once more despite the danger, knowing it’s only a matter of time before the conflict reaches a city that’s unprepared and fracturing beneath the chancellor’s reign.Since waking below in Dacre’s realm, Roman cannot remember his past. But given the reassurance that his memories will return in time, Roman begins to write articles for Dacre, uncertain of his place in the greater scheme of the war. When a strange letter arrives by wardrobe door, Roman is first suspicious, then intrigued. As he strikes up a correspondence with his mysterious pen pal, Roman will soon have to make a decision: to stand with Dacre or betray the god who healed him. And as the days grow darker, inevitably drawing Roman and Iris closer together...the two of them will risk their very hearts and futures to change the tides of the war.

"This book was the perfect book to start the new year with!! It was so good! I was a little bit worried that my expectations might be way too high, but this book did not disappoint! It's so well written, it's a bit emotional at times, and the characters are great and so lovable! Such a beautiful book! 10/10 would recommend!"

"This one was good. There are lots of people who love this duo-logy. I enjoy it but honestly I find them a little tedious. They are beautifully written and the imagery is stunning but the story is slow, the action is pretty underwhelming and I am not gripped by the love story. I liked the pace of this one more than the first. Overall if you appreciate the style of writing you might fall in love. For me they are good not great. "

"I liked the book.
I enjoyed it better listening to it though while doing other things.
Loved the romance between Roman and Iris."

"This was a beautiful ending to this series. The ending hurt so good but I felt like it all concluded nicely. I love Iris and Roman so much "

"Disappointing end. Divine Rivals was phenomenal, but this just fell flat. Roman and Iris will always have a special place in my heart- but this plot was a mess. I’m terribly sad I didn’t enjoy this more. "

"I loved how this duology played out and I loved watching Roman and Iris' relationship develop over the series. My only complaint is that I wish the other would have gotten more into the lore of the gods and the typewriters themselves. "

"I was very excited to read the sequel to “Divine Rivals”, and it did not disappoint. The love stories that are woven in the plot are beautiful and complex. I love the addition of a few new characters. There was plenty of action to keep me engaged and picked up right where the first book left off. I enjoyed the bits of magic, gods, war, strategy, friendship, and diving deeper into the motivations of certain characters. I thought Ross did an excellent job of concluding duology and I look forward to reading other works. 4.5/5"

"I didn’t enjoy this as much as I did the first. This one read much slower for me and I just dragged my feet reading it. At the end of the day, I am glad to wrap up Iris and Roman’s story. Between both books it was a cute journey but oh how book one stole my heart."
