The first game starts with a bang, but Ryohei manages to beat the clock and save his friends. It’s a short-lived victory, however, as they discover that winning only earns them a few days’ grace period. If they want to get home, they’re going to have to start playing a lot harder. -- VIZ Media

"Perhaps I'm comparing too much to the series adaptation while reading but I didn't find the characters to be as immediately likable in the manga. They definitely grew on me throughout this first volume but I think the show improved the set up/introduction. Right off the bat a huge difference in the manga is also the first game Arisu and his friends play, which made me excited to see if other games would differ between the two. As a fan of the adaptation, it's definitely fun to read and nitpick what they chose to change as well as see the characters again in their original form."

"Holy crap this is good. The tag game was actually nail-biting and all the twists made strategic sense. Love all the twists and turns with figuring out the games. I also like the characters; there's some good chemistry between them all, even the one I thought would be really annoying.<br/>"

"Really interesting mystery thriller manga. Got this for my birthday and ended up reading half of it during the party. 7/10 would recommend."

"I watched the Netflix adaption last year with friends and it was such a fun, interesting show. I didn't even realize they had a manga until I was just searching through Libby. Definitely still the same vibes with more character development. The first game and how they arrive is different than I remember but that's fine because I'm using this as a refresher. Characters are definitely fleshed out more so I'm excited to relive everything."

"I received an eARC courtesy of VIZ Media via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.<br/><br/>Loved the premise-the death game genre is darkly entertaining. No complaints on the illustrations. The pacing in between the games was a bit sluggish, but necessary for character development.<br/><br/>For Libraries: adult graphic collections"
