"Before reading this book I had no clue about anything they were talking about and still wouldn’t due to the lack of discussion of it in school. Although I was in seventh grade and was clueless to the topics of the book, I understood it immediately. Somehow the book was both eye opening and relatable. I loved the bond that the characters shared and the unbelievable experience that they had to endure. Although this experience nearly cost them their lives, it also brought them closer together. You will cry laugh and smile!"
"The ponderings of a young girl and her family in a world shattered and torn apart is beautifully portrayed in this historical fiction for young readers. I find beauty in written word and this book was no exception as a Hindu twelve year old living in Northwest India tries to make sense of and survive as she, her brother, grandmother, and father are forced to move to India as the country separates into Muslim Pakistan and Hindu India. great read for people from all over the world."
