Betrayed, the second installment in the bestselling House of Night series from P. C. Cast and Kristin Cast, is dark and sexy, and as thrilling as it is utterly shocking.Fledgling vampyre Zoey Redbird has managed to settle in at the House of Night. She's come to terms with the vast powers the vampyre goddess, Nyx, has given her, and is getting a handle on being the new Leader of the Dark Daughters. Best of all, Zoey finally feels like she belongs--like she really fits in. She actually has a boyfriend...or two. Then the unthinkable happens: Human teenagers are being killed, and all the evidence points to the House of Night. While danger stalks the humans from Zoey's old life, she begins to realize that the very powers that make her so unique might also threaten those she loves. Then, when she needs her new friends the most, death strikes the House of Night, and Zoey must find the courage to face a betrayal that could break her heart, her soul, and jeopardize the very fabric of her world.

"*Warning there will be spoilers in this review!!* This was one was more intense than book 1. Which made it more enjoyable for me. I definitely liked how it starts off about 1 month or so from the ending of the previous book. I was completely shocked and weirded out that she was basically having a student-teacher relationship, like seriously why? I don't think that needed to be a part of the plot especially when she is dealing with heath and Erik. I hope this doesn't become a reverse harem type thing. I was really sad when Stevie Rae died, that hurt me. The high priestess is annoying and should have her powers taken away! Or be killed, either one works for me. I loved the plot twist and how this series keeps me engaged. The writing is still pretty cringe worthy, especially when the whole poetry and drama acting happens(I'll just pass on that thank you). I can't wait to read book 3, and I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy the rest of the series based on my enjoyment so far."
"I'm re-reading these books for the first time since high school. The story itself is excellent. The actual book did not age well, though. There are a lot of really inappropriate gay man stereotypes, there is waaaaaay too much "****" shaming, and the flippant use of the r slur makes me want to throw my kindle. This book did not age well. I am going to keep reading, though. I don't think I ever finished this series back in the day, so I want to know what happened."
"The first book was so much better. It took me a couple months to read this book because it was just so boring. If the series continues this way, I'm quitting it. I actually skimmed a lot of the pages because it was just so bad."

"The first one was the best but I really enjoyed this one too. I'm not sure how I feel about her Imprinting with Heath. I wasn't a fan of Heath and the fact that he is human should make the decision easier but since she has had his blood, well it's not that simple for her. I don't know what Loren is up to but I do think there is some connection between them but I don't know if he is being genuine in his interest in her or if he is just trying to get with her to control her and her ever growing powers. I would also like to figure out what exactly Stevie Rae is now. She and the other dead fledglings aren't vampyres but they aren't human either and they aren't technically dead, so what are they? How is Neferet making them? I can't wait to see Neferet get what's coming to her. My only beef with this book is that for over half the book Erik isn't even involved in the story. I really like Erik and didn't like his absence one bit. I am definitely going to have to pick up the next one though."

"Zoey is amazing She makes mistakes but she admits them eventually and the way she defends Stevie Rae and stays with her until well after she has passed away She is a badass when she stands up to Neferet in the end Can't wait to see what happens in the next book with Neferet and Zoey!!"
