From the Flying Start author of Amy & Roger’s Epic Detour comes a powerful novel about hope in the face of heartbreak. Taylor Edwards’s family might not be the closest-knit—everyone is a little too busy and overscheduled—but for the most part, they get along just fine. Then, Taylor’s dad gets devastating news, and her parents decide that the family will spend one last summer all together at their old lake house in the Pocono Mountains. Crammed into a place much smaller and more rustic than they are used to, they begin to get to know each other again. And Taylor discovers that the people she thought she had left behind haven’t actually gone anywhere. Her former best friend is still around, as is her first boyfriend—and he’s much cuter at seventeen than he was at twelve. As the summer progresses and the Edwards become more of a family, they’re more aware than ever that they’re battling a ticking clock. Sometimes, though, there is just enough time to get a second chance with family, with friends, and with love.

"It was a little boring in the beginning, but the overall story was so touching. I would definitely recommend. The author did such a good job writing about death and how the reality of it hits again and again while also giving the message of hope in that situation. She also did a great job with character development and building the relationships among the characters."

"It struck me as I was finishing up how little screen time the main characters actually dating in the present gets, but it doesn't even bother me. This book was great. I am struck with a desire to read more of Morgan Matson, because this is the first book of hers that really hit me the right way and I wonder if her others would now, too."

"This book was not too bad but seemed to be a lot longer than necessary. I'll start with what I didn't like.... 1. Extra fluff/fat that was not needed. We really didn't need all those flashbacks, Taylor could have just told us what happened. Beacause her 'mistake' was really over dramatized and there is not a big reason that Henry should be mad at Taylor. 2. Drama, drama, drama. Lucy is mad at Taylor STILL because Taylor dated Henry before she knee that Lucy liked him. Henry is SUPER mad at Taylor, for not telling Lucy and just running off without an explination (Really, come on Henry. Get over it!). And Taylor is super whiny, no friends, no love life, annoying siblings, dying dad, okay, I get it. She has a hard life but she also has a lot of things to be thankful for (job, family that <3's each other, two houses, a new dog, car/bike, etc.) and I'm sure there are people with worse problems than her. Moving onto the things I did like; 1. Puns (and Taylor's Dad in general). I love punny things (Haha, get it? Funny puns? Punny?) and this book was filled with them :) 2. The overall story was okay :) Good idea, just filled with too much fat. The ending was okay, but very predictable. I was hoping for a plot twist and the whole boom seemed like it would have one but it never came :/ Overall, an okay book, not one I'd read again though"
