"Under the Dome by Stephen King
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was great! I kept finding myself thinking how I would react, wondering what the origins of the Dome was and what people were gonna do about it. I could've never guessed what went down and kept coming back to this chonk of a book wanting more and more.
The characters were the best part and the events unfolding just kept upping the stakes and keeping me on the edge of my seat. "

"At first, I wasn't so thrilled with this book. I thought it was fine, but the plot and the arcs that were being set up weren't super interesting. Then I read the last two thirds of this monster of a book in one afternoon. The really compelling thing isn't the arcs or even the plot, but the characters. All of them felt viscerally, horrifically real, in a very riveting and compelling way. If you're looking for a book that will draw you in, this is the one."

"Not my favorite King novel. I felt that it was slow and drug on. "

"I gave it an extra star because I am excited to be done. I didn't mind the story idea itself, but could have done without the graphic violence and rape. Ready to move on to the next one."

"In 1000+ pages there are going to be things to dislike. Some moments of boredom which is common in a long book, particularly an SK book (though I absolutely love his work!!). There were plenty of thrilling moments as well. It's an investment but an enjoyable one. Not recommended as a first SK read though. "

"Stephen King has an amazing way of writing characters that are so good you almost forget the entire plot/ending is a deus ex machina"

"I spent way too much time reading this book to have it end the way it did.

(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
-----------------
Now that I've gotten that out of the way. This story is full of stereotypical characters and all sorts of -ist language. Sometimes when the journey is amazing, I can appreciate it and be grateful for that even if the destination is less than satisfying. Unfortunately, this journey made me (ಠ_ಠ) a lot and I could tell early on that I was going to be dissatisfied with the explanation. And then I was.

S'not entirely terrible. But the (ಠ_ಠ) bits make it not worth the slog. Especially when there are so many really good King books to read."

"I must say this is one of my new favorite Stephen King books. There were quite a few ups and downs filled with a lot of emotion.
During the course of the book it amazed me how blind people are during tragedy even when their gut tells them better.
I found myself trying to will events to happen and stay awake to keep reading to see if indeed Mr. King would do what I hoped he'd do. Most times. I was disappointed and or shocked. lol
Of course I had a lot of questions at the end of the book but ultimately I enjoyed all of the roller coasters even the ones that ended in sadness"

"A good look at human nature on both sides when faced with crisis. Some folks hate the ending but it was ok. Enjoyable listen but a bit long in the tooth."

"Like a lot of Stephen King, exploring the premise is very interesting, but the end kind of unsatisfying. If you’re used to King and enjoy it for what it is, it’s a fun enough read."

"This is a quintessential, epic Stephen King story which means to me that when I break open a 1000+ page Stephen King novel I expect to be completely hooked straight through to the end. He is one of the BEST story tellers I know matched only by the likes of Ken Follett. This novel did not disappoint, and I enjoyed a marvelous addictive ride.

The only thing that soured the experience of "Under the Dome", as with others I have read by Stephen King was the extremely weak ending. Reader beware: you will invest time, enjoy the ride of your life, but be left wanting at the end."
