I’m curious to check out the other books in the series to see if they build upon the foundations more... particularly in regards to Jackaby’s history, and why he has the “seer” ability, or even just who his family was/is and where he comes from."

"While I enjoyed this, I felt the narrator lacked depth. I wanted her to be MORE. For as well-travelled as she was supposed to be, she seemed very shallow and naiive. I would have liked her to be grittier and more intuitive. I loved Jackaby, and the fact that he wasn't the narrator really worked here. (He reminded me of Johnny Depp's portrayal of Ichabod Crane in Sleepy Hollow.)"

"It took me FOREVER to finish this book. So long I had to switch back and forth between the audiobook and the print version. I should have been able to finish it in less than a week, but it was soooooo boring. The characters were boring and annoying and didn't have much depth at all and the ending was unsatisfying. I probably won't finish the series."
