Author Melanie Dickerson shoots straight to the heart with a cast of compelling characters, an enchanting story world, and romance and suspense in spades. Reaching The End was regrettable--but oh, what an ending!" --Laura Frantz, bestselling author of The Lacemaker"Melanie Dickerson does it again! Full of danger, intrigue, and romance, this beautifully crafted story will transport you to another place and time." --Sarah E. Ladd, bestselling author of The Governess of Penwythe Hall"Melanie Dickerson's The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest is a lovely, romantic read set during one of the most fascinating time periods. Featuring a feisty, big-hearted heroine and a hero to root for, this sweet medieval tale is wrapped in a beautiful journey of faith that had me flipping pages well after my bedtime. Delightful!" --Tamara Leigh, USA TODAY bestselling author of Baron of Godsmere"Melanie Dickerson weaves a tantalizing Robin Hood plot in a medieval setting in The Huntress of Thornbeck Forest. She pits a brave heroine with unique talents against a strong, gentle hero whose occupation makes it dangerous to know him. Add the moral dilemma and this tale makes a compelling read for any age." --Ruth Axtell, author of She Shall Be Praised and The Rogue's Redemption"For stories laden with relatable heroines, romantically adventurous plots, once-upon-a-time settings, and engaging writing, Melanie Dickerson is your go-to author. Her books are on my never-to-be-missed list." --Kim Vogel Sawyer, author of When Mercy Rains

"A beautiful retelling of the swan princess and robin hood combined into a realistic, religious, medieval setting."

"I had no idea this was a Christian fiction book, I just thought the author was trying to be accurate about the time period being a very religious one in Europe. The story was ok, but it got old fast with how many times Odette and Jorgen kept mooning over each other and saying how beautiful the other was. The characters were also to perfect and self-righteous to the point that I couldn’t stand them. The ending was so unrealistic and ridiculous too. I was hoping for an imaginative Robin Hood retelling but this was not it."

"2.5 stars

From an objective, storytelling standpoint, I enjoyed this. It had a Shakespeare level convoluted plot. And in the end all the ends tied up nicely into a neat little bow.

I kind of hate it when ends tie up nicely into a neat little bow.

Now from a sociological standpoint or whatever, which is pretty much always how I analyze my enjoyment of books at this point in my life - I kind of hated it. Why? Because
(1) the lord dude should not have his freaking privatized land where only he can hunt on it. What do you mean, acting surprised that people are starving? You are literally controlling the land and now you are blaming people who hunted the land for food for ecological destruction. If you'd just fed them in the first place this wouldn't be an issue. I hate rich people.
(2) Love interest whose name started with a J was kind of Christian nationalist in his loyalty to the lord dude. Like ok yeah you know he's a good person etc. - I can get behind that. But also he was letting his people starve.
(3) But I'm glad it was a girl hunting!!! Slay!!!

Those were my main qualms. And it was preachy. But that's the nature of a Christian romance novel. Oh also, the phrase about his leather clad calves or whatever was scarring.

I like to hate on books. It really wasn't that bad. I'm happy they found love and ended up happily ever after and all the kids get to eat and now they live in an Avalon-like medieval Utopia.

I have successfully sounded bitter and dry in the last paragraph. I liked it. Really and truly."
