Nalini Singh
Nalini Singh returns to the world of the Guild Hunters for the most highly anticipated novel of the beloved series—a love story so epic it’s been half a millennia in the making… Illium and Aodhan. Aodhan and Illium. For centuries they’ve been inseparable: the best of friends, closer than brothers, companions of the heart. But that was before—before darkness befell Aodhan and shattered him, body, mind, and soul. Now, at long last, Aodhan is healing, but his new-found strength and independence may come at a devastating cost—his relationship with Illium. As they serve side by side in China, a territory yet marked by the evil of its former archangel, the secret it holds nightmarish beyond imagining, things come to an explosive decision point. Illium and Aodhan must either walk away from the relationship that has defined them—or step forward into a future that promises a bond infinitely precious in the life of an immortal…but that demands a terrifying vulnerability from two badly bruised hearts.

"One million stars - SEMI-SPOILERY QUOTES BELOW!!<br/><br/>AHHHHHH. NALINI I KNEW THEY WERE NEVER JUST FRIENDS. I SMELLED A ROMANCE AND I WAS RIGHT. How did I feel about Archangel’s Light? It was utter perfection. I felt anger, horror, sadness, happiness, and sheer joy while reading so a whole range of emotions. I also screamed… frequently. My two absolute favorite quotes are below. Please, I would die for these men. <br/><br/>“Always, Blue. Me and you? We’re always.” <br/><br/>“How long do you think your Bluebell era will last?” “All the eons of our existence.”<br/>"

"Not bad, but not what I was expecting either.. (May contain minor spoilers, but I'll try not to give anything away)<br/><br/>First I'd like to say that I don't read M/M romances, NOT, I repeat NOT because I have a problem with male homosexuality. I'm all about "to each their own" so long as it's safe, sane and consensual. And while I'm sure there are some very talented authors who write incredible M/M romances, it just doesn't trip my trigger, so to speak, so I don't read them. Just like I don't read mafia romance, clean romances that are heavy on religion or any of the other genres I enjoy less than others. So keep in mind that any negativity I feel for this book is NOT due to the M/M relationship.<br/><br/>That said, this is definitely not my favorite Guild Hunter book.. It was written much differently than the others, in a then and now style. Which I've never enjoyed much. And while I did enjoy seeing some of the history of Illium and Adhoan, I prefer flashes of memory to the then and now style. <br/><br/>I did enjoy reading this book though and will definitely read it again, probably more than once. But as I said the book was not what I was expecting.. I was expecting more action and drama outside of the personal aspects of Illium and Adhoan's changing relationship. And there was some outside drama, but it seemed short lived and almost like an after thought. The main focus of the book being centered on the characters rather than any terrible remnants left behind by Her Creepiness. I was also expecting a sex scene or two, as is typical of the books in this series (Which I always enjoy.. LOL), but there were none. Only a couple steamy-ish make out sessions. <br/><br/>So while I absolutely recommend this book to fans of the series, you should be aware going in that the story may not be all that you've imagined. Also.. It has to be said that part of me hates that Illium and Adhoan got together, simply because it means there's one less potential book in the series.. LOL!!"

"I really didn't like the Sparkel Bluebell hook up at the end. Also this book was a little slow, not her normal tempo of writing. I was really hoping she was going to create 2 more characters for the best friends love interest not mentally destroy the friendship for me. This is my least favorite book in the series"
