A showrunner and her assistant give the world something to talk about when they accidentally fuel a ridiculous rumor in this debut romance.Hollywood powerhouse Jo is photographed making her assistant Emma laugh on the red carpet, and just like that, the tabloids declare them a couple. The so-called scandal couldn't come at a worse time—threatening Emma's promotion and Jo's new movie. As the gossip spreads, it starts to affect all areas of their lives. Paparazzi are following them outside the office, coworkers are treating them differently, and a “source” is feeding information to the media. But their only comment is “no comment”.With the launch of Jo’s film project fast approaching, the two women begin to spend even more time together, getting along famously. Emma seems to have a sixth sense for knowing what Jo needs. And Jo, known for being aloof and outwardly cold, opens up to Emma in a way neither of them expects. They begin to realize the rumor might not be so off base after all…but is acting on the spark between them worth fanning the gossip flames?

"3.5⭐

I was really excited about Something to Talk About when I heard of it, but I ended up having mixed feelings on it. I loved the idea so much, but it ended up being a pretty frustrating read. It's a ridiculously slow burn, and it also got repetitive after a bit. There wasn't very much payoff in the end, but I did still have fun reading it. I really enjoyed the beginning, and this book had a lot of potential. I'll definitely check out another book from Meryl Wilsner.

CW - sexual harassment"
"This was my first official queer read that made me proud of queer reads hahaha. This book was very well written. At first glance it sounds very cliche, but it warms up to you so much you’ll be cheering for them in the end! Characters are easy to love and the writing style is silky!!! #lesbian #lgbt #wlw #sapphic #romance #queerromance "
"Loved it! Finished it by the second day. Could be I’m just craving more well-written, believable and well-paced stories about an attraction between two women. It was fun, light and for my life and industry, quite relatable. I definitely wanted to spend even more time with the characters and I so appreciate this other. Only writing a review because I came on to see what other books might be suggested after having read this one. If you’re looking for better told/executed tales in the lgbtq community, here is a fun and good read!"
"I read the iconic book that Meryl wrote in 2023 “mistakes were made” that had me clutching my pearls every 5 seconds because of how many times the characters jumped each other’s bones lol so this one was a bit more subdued and slow burn. The payoff is always the best part! Because you have all this pining and tension and it feels like it’s going to break and then it does a fake out where the character has seconds thoughts. It was so well done! And the way Jo admits in the beginning of the book that she’s in love with her assistant and doesn’t say something until like the second to last chapter or so was just cruel! It kept me hanging on tho!"
