Marion and Shiva Stone are twin brothers born of a secret union between a beautiful Indian nun and a brash British surgeon. Orphaned by their mother’s death and their father’s disappearance and bound together by a preternatural connection and a shared fascination with medicine, the twins come of age as Ethiopia hovers on the brink of revolution. Moving from Addis Ababa to New York City and back again, Cutting for Stone is an unforgettable story of love and betrayal, medicine and ordinary miracles—and two brothers whose fates are forever intertwined.

"This story is very well written, and literally encompasses an entire lifetime, making the plot pretty intriguing. I'm not sure how I would've felt if I read this in book format since it's incredibly long and I think I'd have been too intimidated. The audiobook worked really well for me, and I was able to stay engaged and follow the plot, the narrator does a great job of giving voice to the characters and I felt I could connect with Marion's internal struggles (though our lives could not be more different). Worth taking a chance on, just make sure you can put aside the time to read it if you're borrowing it from the library like me. 8/10🫄🏽🩺"

"At first I thought the storyline didn’t sound very interesting, but I decided to read it anyways because of how much it was being recommended to me. By the second chapter I was hooked! The way it’s all written is just… SO GOOD. 10000/10, definitely read this book!"

"Such an inspiring read. The author does a great job of following Marion and Shive throughout their lives (starting before they are even born). I enjoyed getting to see the characters struggles but also massive growth up until the end. I definitely felt heartbroken at the end but it also made for such a great book. "
