"Not as good as the first but I can’t blame the author for that. This book is soo different from the first that the author had to build so much back story and character to fill in the gaps. By the time I finished the book I understood the need for all the extra explanations but while reading it I just became bored. If you hang in long enough the book will pick up and fly by quickly near the end."

"Love how this expands further into the world of Temeraire. I enjoyed watching Laurence shed more of his naval rigidity and embrace more of the aviator lifestyle"

"I enjoyed this book, but I thought it dragged a bit. Maybe it was because I was listening to it, but had to spread it out over a month because I didn't have the time to listen to something and concentrate on it. I almost gave up on it, especially during the long travels at sea, but a couple of scenes were really exciting and made it worth it, especially at the end. I did enjoy the style of the book and will definitely try out the next one."

"This whole dragon series is incredible. Best series I read in 2021. Phenomenal characters in an amazing world that just keeps expanding. Positive and charming but suspenseful and intense. Absolutely marvelous."

"<strong>Good reading </strong><br/><br/>Not quite as good as book 1 but still a good addition to the series, especially as second books often go. Looking forward to rereading book 3 next."
