"If you like the Bridgerton series, you will most likely enjoy this book - even though it is a bit slow. Bridgerton characters are referenced and included, which I liked, as I loved those books. As another user said below, a lot of the book consists of Honoria nursing Marcus to health. I honestly feel like it dwelled on that bit too long, but overall I was pleased with this book. It’s a cute quick read for Julia Quinn/Bridgerton fans. "

"I liked this book, not exactly more than that. It started off really well with the heroine being childhood friends with the hero. Then we cut to them nearly 20 years later and with a series of unfortunate (and somewhat planned) events, Marcus becomes very ill from an infected wound. It was sort of slow burn and sort of insta-lovey at the same time. I did find it a little bit tedious and sluggish in the middle and the very ending of the book. <br/><br/>With that being said though, I found a lot of the humour and funnier scenes working for me, especially with Marcus’ great-great aunt Lady Danbury. Also the family dynamics with the yearly musicale were really funny too. I will continue on with the series mainly for that reason. I mean I NEED to know what happened to Honoria’s brother while he was gone for 3 years and I found Miss Wynter’s storyline really intriguing (where was she after the musicale finished) !?"

"A very good read. Characters were a little bland considering all of the Bridgerton books and prequels. But still a good and worthy read. "

"This was a nice entry into the Smythe-Smith series. It had the classic “brother’s best friend” trope, which I enjoy. Marcus does spend a decent chunk of the book sick and being nursed back to health by Honoria, so if that is a plot point that you really enjoy in a book, then this book is perfect for you! That is not my favorite thing, but I was able to appreciate the story even so. "

"a 2.5? Decent read, however I have already identified certain Julia Quinn tropes having only read *one book* and having watched tiny snippets of Bridgerton. Was nice to read when I needed something I guess.<br/><br/>these tropes being: <br/>- oddly specific descriptions of people eating with utensils and the attraction to that and<br/>- "burning" for someone<br/><br/>It should also be noted that I have some form of bitterness against Bridgerton because of its *lacking* messages and also the way it took over the historical side of the internet. My algorithm thought I would adore Bridgerton and people were suddenly labeling anything that had to do with castles and princess dresses "Bridgerton vibes" which was VERY UPSETTING and I'm impressed if you even continued reading my review heh."

"It was really good. It helped reading Quinn’s Bridgerton series first to understand some characters and the musical performances, though not necessary. I liked the ending and it left me wanting to continue the series. :) "

"I read this series out of order sooo I can see this isn't really one you have to read sequentially. I had a lot of fun reading about Honoria and how she and Marcus came to be a couple. I think Honoria's love for her family is beautiful and how much she devotes to her family traditions is just so lovely."
