Julie Garwood
By edict of the king, the mighty Scottish laird Alec Kincaid must take an English bride. His choice was Jamie, youngest daughter of Baron Jamison...a feisty, violet-eyed beauty. Alec ached to touch her, to tame her, to possess her...forever. But Jamie vowed never to surrender to this highland barbarian. He was everything her heart warned against—an arrogant scoundrel whose rough good looks spoke of savage pleasures. And thought Kincaid's scorching kisses fired her blood, she brazenly resisted him...until one rapturous moment quelled their clash of wills, and something far more dangerous than desire threatened to conquer her senses...

"I have read this and The Wedding (also by Garwood) so many times! I have had them for at least 10 years and still love reading them. They take place in the Highlands of Scotland and have strong women leading with their men. I am an absolute hopeless romantic and immediately fell in love. There is a great mix of humor love and passion."

"I was looking forward to this book because it had such rave reviews, but if you've ever read Outlander by Diana Gabaldon don't read this one. All I could think of the whole time I read this book was how much I wanted to re-read outlander again. Don't get me wrong, I liked the book, just not as much as I loved Outlander."

"Read this when you could use a dreamy romance that’s straightforward and uncomplicated. I read this first in ‘97 as a teen and it’s still one of my favorite love stories ever. No long drawn out angst of missed chances, playing games, or things unspoken—I hate those. Highland man sees a woman, wants her, wins her, turns out she wants him too, they fall in love and build their lives towards each other. Epic setting. Really engaging and interesting story. Especially that Jamie is a vibrant, creative, talented, strong and brazen female lead—great to read. Funny moments too. And Alex is, ooh, definitely the kind of alpha male you just ‘want’. And he falls in love, hard, and doesn’t fight or hide it—so sexy. Definite Outlander vibes. It just works. I read it once a year. Where is the movie already?! ☺️"

"I have read all but one Garwood. I really liked her modern ones too. I’m reading the Court of Thorn and Roses trilogy right now. It’s my first foray into fantasy of this sort and I am really loving it! What books do you love?"
