NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Pierce Brown’s relentlessly entertaining debut channels the excitement of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card. “Red Rising ascends above a crowded dystopian field.”—USA TodayONE OF THE BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR—Entertainment Weekly, BuzzFeed, Shelf Awareness“I live for the dream that my children will be born free,” she says. “That they will be what they like. That they will own the land their father gave them.” “I live for you,” I say sadly. Eo kisses my cheek. “Then you must live for more.”Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he toils willingly, trusting that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children. But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and lush wilds spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class. Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.Praise for Red Rising“[A] spectacular adventure . . . one heart-pounding ride . . . "Very interesting story here. Many good parts but also some lows that drag. Deceit, deception, mystery, violence is all here. Even some goofiness from the main character when you are in their head. The author did a good job painting Mars in your mind. I wanted to like it but felt quite neutral after reading. Perhaps will give it a second read with some time as most reviews are really good. "

"3.5⭐️ I liked the story. It wasn't the best dystopian world, cuz I felt like it used a lot of heavily used concepts (caste systems based on color, creeds of obedience, etc.) But the story was fun to read. I hope in the next book, Darrow makes more unexpected choices. That'll really help break up the monotony of the scifi cliches and make it even more exciting to read. I'm invested in knowing how he's able to cause a rebellion. "

"I didn’t expect to like this at all but i ended up LOVING IT! It gave me very much lord of the flies vibes but with older kids and technology! It was so different than what I usually read so it was so refreshing"

"I was waiting to review this until I finished the whole series. I had so much fun reading these books. Super fast paced, with interesting world building and genuinely loveable characters. This has got to be one of my favorite turn-your-brain-off trilogies I’ve read in a while.
Also, team Sevro 5ever. Awooooooo!"

"This is definitely a series I will be continuing, I binged this is 3 days reading the majority in one day. While there are hints of The Hunger Games this is its own thing on so many levels. From the cultures, to the planetary workings to the medical advancement this was just so cool and I'm sad I don't have book two in hand right away! A must read!"

"I enjoyed this book. It definitely gave Hunger Games vibes. I enjoyed the pacing until I got closer to the end when it started to feel winded and I was ready for it to end. I will be continuing the series. "

"A mish mash of Hunger Games, Ender’s Game and a smidge of Lord of the Flies. I didn’t get the praise for it and was relieved when it was over"

"WOW!! I didn’t know what to expect going into this series, wasn’t sure if it would be my thing but I was so pleasantly surprised. This book gives me hunger games on steroids, I really wish this first book is longer because I ate it up! NO CRUMBS!! I already picked up the next one from the library that’s how excited I am. I hope mustang comes back full force in this second book, honestly loved all the supporting characters and this world so far!"

"I actually didn’t finish this book. I got half way through but it was very slow without anything interesting enough to keep my attention. I did not enjoy it so I moved on."
