What If It's Us meets They Both Die at the End in this postapocalyptic, queer YA adventure romance from debut author Erik J. Brown. Perfect for fans of Adam Silvera, Alex London, and Heartstopper by Alice Oseman. When Andrew stumbles upon Jamie’s house, he’s injured, starved, and has nothing left to lose. A deadly pathogen has killed off most of the world’s population, including everyone both boys have ever loved. And if this new world has taught them anything, it’s to be scared of what other desperate people will do . . . so why does it seem so easy for them to trust each other? After danger breaches their shelter, they flee south in search of civilization. But something isn’t adding up about Andrew’s story, and it could cost them everything. And Jamie has a secret, too. He’s starting to feel something more than friendship for Andrew, adding another layer of fear and confusion to an already tumultuous journey. The road ahead of them is long, and to survive, they’ll have to shed their secrets, face the consequences of their actions, and find the courage to fight for the future they desire, together. Only one thing feels certain: all that’s left in their world is the undeniable pull they have toward each other.

"I liked this a lot! the post apocalyptic world building was really good, the only thing I didn’t understand was how anyone still living was considered immune; or like they didn’t worry about distancing. never read a queer post-apoc book (or queer sci fi at all rly) so this was really fun. loved all the characters as well. bro made me so paranoid as well. like all the creepy things that happened when they were traveling (iykyk) got me so freaked out for some reason. thought someone was going to stab me at night for a little bit. finished 4/9/22 ⭐️4.5/5⭐️ just bc i didnt like the ending."

"I picked up this book thanks to a glowing review by someone else and I'm glad I did! I don't always like post apocalyptic stories, but this one was highly enjoyable. It was dark without being bleak. It was humorous and sweet. Thrilling and hopeful. I love that a big theme was on how even during disaster, there are still genuinely helpful people in the world. There's a little bit of found family wrapped inside a queer survival story. Definitely recommend."

"This novel is a gripping tale of survival, finding safety, along with finding a purpose in a world where such things have been stripped away. The hope and realness the characters represent can be put to everyday events and life, and so can the hope. "
