FROM THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AUTHOR OF FUNNY STORY!A romance writer who no longer believes in love and a literary writer stuck in a rut engage in a summer-long challenge that may just upend everything they believe about happily ever afters. As featured in The New York Times Book Review ∙ Entertainment Weekly ∙ Oprah Magazine ∙ Betches ∙ Shondaland ∙ Good Morning America ∙ The New York Post ∙ Good Housekeeping ∙ CNN ∙ and more!Augustus Everett is an acclaimed author of literary fiction. January Andrews writes bestselling romance. When she pens a happily ever after, he kills off his entire cast. They’re polar opposites. In fact, the only thing they have in common is that for the next three months, they're living in neighboring beach houses, broke, and bogged down with writer's block.Until, one hazy evening, one thing leads to another and they strike a deal designed to force them out of their creative ruts: Augustus will spend the summer writing something happy, and January will pen the next Great American Novel. She’ll take him on field trips worthy of any rom-com montage, and he’ll take her to interview surviving members of a backwoods death cult (obviously). Everyone will finish a book and no one will fall in love. Really.

"A classic chick lit. Light, enjoyable, and easily consumed. "

"This is a beautiful second chance romance. They both had crushes on each other in college and now they are both a little broken. I love how they piece back their lives together. This book is funny, sweet, and challenging. I love Gus and January! "

"Ok rant incoming. I've read Emily Henry books before and usually give em 3 stars cuz like they were okay and usually I'm not the biggest fan of her characters and storytelling. But this book was actually so good. I honestly had no qualms with the characters (which is rare for me in romance books I usually get pretty irritated with them) and also I think the plot was so cute.
My only complaints were that for some reason authors love the miscommunication trope so that was in there but it was resolved rather quickly and also the fact that the ending seemed off. I don't know how tho. Like not that it wasn't resolved but something was missing I don't know.
Either way, definitely one of my top Emily Henry books cuz I usually don't like them but this one was cute I recommend. "

"If you’re a fan of Emily Henry, this book is on par with her others. A sweet story that involves January and Gus dealing with some baggage and both suffering from writers block. This grumpy v sunshine duo agree to help each other through. If you’re looking for a charming hallmark-esque, lighthearted read…this fits the bill."

"Better than I expected. They did fall in love a little quickly and some parts felt like they werent given adequate attention but it didnt feel exactly shallow. Didnt feel deep either. Like the characters werent exactly done quite yet but it kinda worked. Overall an enjoyable light read."

"Such a fun read! I really needed a distraction and this book was perfect! Gus and January were such fun and well written characters. Love the idea of an author writing about authors and their story felt so real. Can’t wait to read more from Emily Henry."
