"Perhaps this is an odd review, but while I can’t say I loved the story, I loved the author’s intention. There is a short statement in the author’s note that made me retrospectively respect what Amy Harmon set out to accomplish, and I think she did that.<br/><br/>As for the story itself, I just didn’t enjoy it the way I thought I would. I’ve always enjoyed reading about the Oregon Trail, despite the hardships and heartbreaks. This was good but some of the research was a little off, and I just didn’t fall in love with the characters. The romance was believable and the family ties were strong, but something just didn’t work for me. I’m still glad I read this and I’ll keep coming back to stories of the emigrants who set out for better lives by braving the unknown!"

"A slow burn for me, which I typically don’t enjoy, but this story held my attention and kept me curious of how it would end. The last 30% picked up and I couldn’t put it down! Overall a really great story! If you like the show 1883, I would HIGHLY recommend reading this book!"
